The So-Cal trio’s fantastically folksical new album was released today and we couldn’t be more excited. Joshua Hanson began as a solo act called Yellow Red Sparks before adding band members to fill out his sound with cello, banjo, and drums. His heart-melting trembles lilt and gravel over emotive words and subtle metaphors from song to song. The debut album has all the melodic nuance and purist folk sensibilities that call for swaying and sing-alongs. Any one of the beautifully written songs could end up on the soundtrack to your next favorite indie flick. If you’ve ever loved and loathed, or soared with hope, they will resonate.

Put them on your list of SXSW acts to follow and listen to our favorites, “Buy Me Honey” and “Scents and Sensibility.”
