Unless it’s pouring outside, a trench coat can be quite daunting to work into your daily attire without looking like you didn’t get the memo that it’s sunny with clear skies. But with the new Kiefer Trench (which has killer leather sleeves and chic tailoring, by the way), we won’t be simply saving it for a rainy day. Up for the challenge, Alicia of New York-based style blog, Cheetah is the New Black, took our new it-jacket from day

to date night, proving what was once a weather-induced style mandate is now a chic choice for any day, rain or shine. Today, she shares with us her two lust-worthy looks and chats it up about everything from her winter wardrobe essentials and beauty tips to what’s playing on her iPod right now.

Why did you start your blog?

I started my blog as a creative outlet in 2009. Like most girls, I was bored with my day job (I was working at an investment firm back in San Francisco at the time).

What are your three winter wardrobe essentials?

A beanie, a warm coat and fingerless gloves.

Any winter beauty tips? We’re always on the hunt.

Yes, I stepped up my winter beauty routine this year and invested in La Mer face cream. I also swear by RODIN olio lusso and good old Vaseline (not just for lips -– I use Vaseline as an eye cream too). I also recently got a Clarisonic, which has quickly become my new best friend.

What are some of your favorite neighborhood haunts?

I enjoy grabbing wine and antipasto at Zampa, drinks at Jeremy’s and an afternoon Americano at Buvette. I love walking along Bleecker, shopping at OTTE on Greenwich Avenue and going to brunch at Bubby’s in TriBeca.

What are you listening to right now?

I listen to everything… but always come back to OneRepublic, Coldplay and Mumford & Sons while working.

What were your new year’s resolutions?

I didn’t really make a new year’s resolution this year, but I am trying to push my comfort zone more!

What are your favorite NYC winter activities?

I love all the festivities during the holidays (ice skating, hot chocolate, the window displays), but in general, either hot tea dates or escaping the chilly temps and enjoying the museums. Actually one of my girlfriends and I have a spa date planned for this weekend, so that might turn into my favorite way to escape the cool temps.
