Tell us a little bit about what you do for Twitter
I’m a part of the Media team, which works with high profile users and organizations on how to use Twitter well and creatively. Specifically, I focus on fashion and sports partnerships. I get to work with some amazing people, from designers and models to fashion editors and stylists on how they can use Twitter to share their story – and their style.
Why do you like working at Twitter?
There’s so much! We’re constantly creating, developing and growing. Whether it’s creating a hackweek project (where we have a week to explore our own ideas creatively) to figuring out ways to incorporate Twitter in a fashion show, there is always something fun and new to work on. For example, our new app Vine launched right around fashion week and I loved working with partners to figure out unique ways to incorporate it with their shows. Like the Rebecca Minkoff “Vine Walk” for first looks before the models hit the runway!
How did you start your career in technology?
My father is an electrical engineer so by the time I was old enough to walk he had me using computers and all sorts of electronics. I even built my own college computer, motherboard and all! Before I joined Twitter, I co-founded a digital marketing agency that managed high profile clients’ digital platforms (i.e. website, social media networks and technology development). I loved the idea of taking a real life experience and creating it on a digital platform so more people could join in. For example, not everyone can attend NYFW, but they can follow along via Twitter as if they had a front row seat.
What is your advice for other women working in technology?
Don’t be intimidated and trust your instincts.
If we stopped you on the street, what would you be wearing?
Skinny jeans, booties and a sweater with a chunky necklace.
What are your style essentials?
Clothes that make you feel good. A great pair of shoes and a fabulous bag!
Most embarrassing fashion story?
I attended a NASCAR race for the first time last year for work (they’re great on Twitter!) and showed up to the track in heels and a green shirt. Within two minutes I was told, very kindly, that “no one wears heels on the track” and “the drivers think the color green is bad luck.” Whoops! Lesson learned.
What spring trends are you the most excited to try?
I’m loving all the black and white.
What is in your bag right now?
Wallet, cellphone and charger (can’t live without my mophie battery pack!), iPad, sunglasses, Bliss hand cream, Orbit gum, 3 lip glosses (yup three!) – Kiehl’s, Nars in Penny Lane and Chanel Coco Rouge in ÉLISE, my business cards, Twitter ID and water bottle.
What music are you listening to right now?
What is one thing not many people know about you?
I love to dance! I was a Los Angeles Laker Girl for three years.
