The Elle Satchel and the Elle Mini are available in black, white, and scarlet – an exclusive color to Neiman Marcus and CUSP. The first 50 Elle bags (25 minis and 25 satchels) will be hand-signed by Rebecca herself.
Rebecca talks to us about why she loves the Elle, why she named it after Bryanboy’s grandmother, and how she’d wear it.
Your social media presence has grown rapidly over the past few years. How much of what you do, as a designer, is a reaction to the digital age?
Digital touches every part of my business. Our followers are very vocal and we listen closely to what they say and adapt to their feedback, whether it’s improving our site or the design of a bag. We have had a few initiatives where we crowd-sourced every step of the design process of a handbag – they had a say in the style, color, leather down to the zippers and hardware.
What do you love most about the Elle bag?
I love how strong and polished it makes a woman look. It’ll make a statement whether she’s in a business meeting or at happy hour.
Describe three ways you would style the Elle bag?
I’ve been wearing the scarlet Elle mini all summer with T-shirt and jeans. Come Fall, I’d wear it with a leather jacket and ankle boots. For dressier moments, it’ll go great with our Liman dress and layers of jewelry.
What are you most looking forward to this Fall?
Oversized leather jackets.
Why did you decide that you wanted to name the Elle bag after Bryan’s grandmother?
Bryan is a good friend of mine, and when he talked about his grandmother, I thought it’d be great to have such a strong woman behind one of my bags.
Tell us about your friendship with Bryan.
We became close after we filmed our holiday video card. He was so much fun on set and down for anything. Since then, we have vacationed together and he was one of my special guests when I was awarded Designer of the Year by the AAFA at the American Image Awards. I love his spirit and have so much respect for how he has grown his brand.
Who would you love to see wearing the Elle bag, past or present?
I always love to see strong women carrying my bags. I would have loved to see someone like the infamous fashion editor, Dianna Vreeland carry one of my bags. Now that was a strong lady who knew what she wanted and had style to boot!
What essentials are you carrying inside your Elle bag?
Notebook and pen for jotting down ideas, Waverly sunglasses and Stila lipstick.
