Bryanboy on the Elle
Thursday, August 01, 2013
Named after his grandmother, Eleonora, Bryanboy has an extra special relationship with our latest It bag. We heard from Rebecca earlier this week; now Bryan weighs in on the Elle and gives us a peek into his childhood and fall outfit plans. Check out our Q&A with the superstar blogger below.
What is your favorite memory with your grandmother, Elle?
My grandmother Eleonora used to sew clothes as a hobby well into her 70s. Every morning, in spite of her being confined in a wheelchair, she would go to her sewing machine to sew something. Sewing made her so happy. I’ll never forget how she once made clothes for my siblings and I, using this purple and white floral fabric. We all wore the clothes (with lots of ruffles) to a family event one time and my other grandma (on my dad’s side) said, ‘and what band do you kids belong to?’. I thought it was hysterical.
What inspired you to name the Elle bag after your grandmother?
We named the Elle bag after my grandmother out of pure love. I miss her so much. She was the only grandparent I’ve met on my mom’s side. My grandfather passed away before I was even born.
Describe Elle (your grandmother) in three words.
Strong, opinionated, kind
Name three people you would love to see wearing the Elle bag?
My best friend, fashion blogger Rumi Neely, actress Jaime King and the ultra chic Lily Kwong.
What are you most looking forward to this Fall?
Dressing up! Autumn is my favourite season of the year. I love the crisp, cool temperatures. After many months of very brutal heat (my summer started early this year), I’m ready for change. Fall is the best time to dress up to the nines without breaking a sweat.
What’s the best advice you’ve received?
The best advice I’ve ever received is so simple but true — always be optimistic. Never forget that yesterday is a closed book. Be that person who makes tomorrow better than today. It’s very important to have something to look forward to.
Which emoticon(s) would you use to describe the Elle bag?
Heart, heart, heart, lots of hearts. Followed by ten exclamation marks. !!!!!!!!!!
In which city do women have the best style?
This is a tough one. In this day and age of the internet, social media and e-commerce, style is becoming universal. Everyone has the same access to the same things worldwide. I do have a soft spot for women (and girls!) in Stockholm. I’m a huge admirer of their effortless and chic style.
How will you wear your Elle bag this Fall?
I’ll alternate my Elle bag between wearing it over the shoulder (on top of a coat) and using it as cross-body (on top of a thick, chunky sweater). In spite of the mini-size, it’s a great bag that packs a lot and can easily transition from day to night!
What essentials will you be carrying in your Elle bag?
Cellphone, lip balm, keys, wallet and chewing gum.
The Elle satchel and Elle mini are available in black, white, and scarlet. Pre-order the Elle on Pinterest now.
