Arcade Fire has released their highly anticipated new video for “We Exist.”
The narrative follows Andrew Garfield as a young man struggling with his gender identity in a rural town. He shaves his head, wears a platinum wig, and puts on women’s clothing before making his way to a local bar for a night out. A powerful scene in which he encounters small-town homophobia transforms into a mesmerizing surrealist dance sequence. The video concludes with Garfield (in a lace dress) taking the stage during Arcade Fire’s Coachella headlining set from last month. Watch the haunting video above and let us know what you think.
