It seems like every day a new restaurant or bar opens up in Manhattan. Unfortunately, no one has time to try them all, but we’re taking one for team and touring all the standout spots.
Last Thursday, we stopped by Beautique in Midtown West for a quick bite — and ended up staying well into the night because we were enjoying ourselves so much.
Ahead, we’ll fill you in on what to order, when to go and (obviously) what to wear.
We recommend starting off with executive chef Craig Hopson’s tuna tartare (pictured above) or the crispy soft shell crab tempura. For cocktails, try the refreshing and light polo cup (Grey Goose, St. Germain, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup). The bartender also makes a delicious dirty martini, but make sure to ask for it extra dirty — unless you plan on cabbing it home.
For mains, go with the sea scallops with foi gras sabayon (below) or the duck breast accented with rhubarb. If you can’t decide, just get both (no judgement).
As for when to come in, we suggest you make an 8:30 p.m. reservation for the most lively scene. You don’t have to dress to the nines, but wear a sleek dress or black skinnies with a cute top. After all, you don’t want to be upstaged by the bar stools (which are covered in Jean Paul Gaultier fabric).
