Tell us a little bit about what you do for Polyvore.
I’m part of the Community team which oversees the happiness and engagement of our user community, the core of Polyvore. I help keep a pulse on conversations within the community and make sure our members know we’re listening and that we care about them. I also manage community outreach programs and work across teams to create exclusive opportunities for our members, like sending them to Fashion Week as a correspondent or designing a handbag for Rebecca Minkoff. The most rewarding part of my job is being able to interact with our members on a daily basis and meeting them in person!
Why do you like working at Polyvore?
I get to work with an amazing and brilliant team every day! We’ve created a product that inspires people from all over the world to express themselves and share their style, and I’m personally in awe of our community’s positivity and creativity. The love letters we receive from our members are truly heartwarming. We also have some pretty amazing perks here — catered lunches, endless snacks, and themed happy hours! What’s not to love?
What is your advice for other women working in technology?
Be true to yourself and work on things you’re passionate about.
If we stopped you on the street, what would you be wearing?
Skinnies, pumps, sunnies and an oversized sweater.
What are your style essentials?
A great pair of jeans that you can dress up or down, the perfect black pumps and a pop of color on the lips.
What trends are you the most excited to try?
What is in your bag right now?
My wallet, car keys, both my iPhone and BlackBerry, Band-Aid Friction Block Stick (best invention ever for any girl who loves shoes), Goody spin pins, MAC lipstick in Hug Me, Bare Escentuals lip gloss in Spark Plug, NARS Velvet Matte lip pencil in Cruella, hand sanitizer, a LUNA bar and earphones.
What apps are on your phone right now?
Polyvore: This app is one of the main reasons I decided to get an iPhone. I love being able to create sets on the go and keep up with the people I follow.
Spotify: My music goes everywhere with me and this app makes it so easy to have all my favorite jams in one place. I actually pay the monthly fee so I can listen to my playlists offline.
Shazam: This app has rarely ever failed me. It can identify a song right down to the exact remix. Before it existed, I would literally write down lyrics of songs I’d hear while out and about so I could Google the song later.
Twitter: I get my news from around the world before I even get out of bed in the morning. I’ve also been known to Tweet in my sleep via this app.
Instagram: I’m a visual person and I love pretty pictures! This was the first app I downloaded the day I got my iPhone.
What music are you listening to right now?
My playlist is pretty diverse, I listen to all genres from rap to reggae and I love international music. Current artists I have on repeat are: The Weeknd, The-Dream, Of Monsters and Men, Miguel, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rihanna and Montana 1948.
